THE COAL INDUSTRY

Over the last 35 years, Forrest Geological Consultants Pty Ltd has carried out field assignments for coal mining companies on numerous projects in Australia and overseas. As a result of this we have acquired valuable knowledge of the geology of many coal basins as well as the geological, geophysical, drilling and computer techniques required to explore and evaluate them.

These coal projects have comprised:

Australia:
Coking and thermal coal exploration, development drilling and minesite geology - Bowen and Surat Basins, Queensland, and Sydney Basin NSW.

Africa:
Geological mapping and drilling in the extension of Karroo sediments from Tanzania into Kenya.

India:
Drilling supervision and core logging and sampling of a thermal coal deposit in Maharashtra State, Central India.

Malaysia:
Exploration for coking coal deposits in Sarawak using drilling and geological mapping.

Philippines:
Coal exploration mapping and sampling in Mindanao.

Data gathered in the field has to be built into a geological model on which to base feasibility studies or mine planning. We specialise in assisting mining companies to build a coherent and reliable geological model on which engineering, financial and environmental studies can be based.

Our extensive experience in coal exploration and development has given us the expertise that qualifies us to participate in the geological aspects of due diligence studies.
